Ready to compete for fame and fortune?

Auditions for the 10th annual Morristown Onstage talent contest are on Dec. 1o, 2016, at Morristown High School.

Amateur performers who live, work or attend schools in Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains are invited to try out for the show, scheduled for March 1, 2017, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.  Cash prizes are offered in several categories.

Tara Bernie, Emmy-nominated senior producer of Access Hollywood, returns to host the event. It’s a benefit for programs of the Morris Educational Foundation, which serves the Morris School District.

This year’s competition raised more than $90,000. More than $400,000 has been raised since the show began, according to chairperson Molly Servais, who promises some surprises for the anniversary edition.

If you are nervous about performing before 1,300 friends, relatives and strangers, take heart. We were scared, too!  Here are some tips that may be helpful.

MORRIS EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION AUDITIONS FOR ITS 10th ANNUAL MORRISTOWN ONSTAGE!

Talent show at Mayo Performing Arts Center on March 1, 2017, will spotlight the best amateur talent from Morristown, Morris Plains and Morris Township.

Morristown, New Jersey, October 31, 2016 – The Morris Educational Foundation (MEF) has announced that registration is now open for auditions for its tenth annual talent show, Morristown ONSTAGE! The talent show will showcase the best amateur talent from Morristown, Morris Plains and Morris Township. The event will be held on March 1st, 2017, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey.

Four distinguished arts and entertainment professionals will judge the competition. Again this year there will be a $1,000 cash prize for 1st place for contestants ages 19 and over, $1,000 cash prize for 1st place for contestants ages 18 and under, a $500 award for the “Audience Choice” Winner which will be voted on that night at the show, and a $250 Rossoff Rising Star Award for talent training chosen by the Morristown ONSTAGE Steering Committee.

Auditions are open to anyone who lives, works, trains or goes to school in the towns of Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains. Alumni of Morristown High School are also invited to audition.

Auditions will take place on December 10, 2016 at Morristown High School. Anyone interested in auditioning must register at the event’s website, www.morristownonstage.com. The deadline for registering for auditions is December 1, 2016. There is a $20 audition fee.

“We are so excited to celebrate 10 years of extraordinary talent in out community and 10 years of Morristown ONSTAGE raising money to fund initiatives supporting the students in the Morris School District. We have raised over $400,000 over the last 9 years from the event and we hope to raise a record amount this year,” said Molly Servais, Morristown ONSTAGE event chair and member of the Morris Educational Foundation Board of Trustees.

Last year’s sold-out event was emceed by Tara Bernie, Emmy-nominated Senior Producer of Access Hollywood and a Morris School District parent who will be returning again this year to reprise her role as emcee.

Servais added, “You won’t want to miss this year’s show. We are planning for some special 10-year surprises to celebrate Morristown ONSTAGE, the biggest community event of the year benefiting the Morris Educational Foundation.”

“The Morris Educational Foundation is very excited about Morristown ONSTAGE and is pleased to announce that Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center will return as the event’s headline sponsor. We are proud to give our community’s local amateur talent an opportunity to perform in front of their hometown, and in a top notch facility such as the Mayo Performing Arts Center” said Kim Pistner, Chairperson of the Morris Educational Foundation. “We are anticipating selling out the theater once again this year!”

“The Morris Educational Foundation is a integral part of the Morris School District and this fundraising event will further the Foundation’s ability to distribute financial and other resources to and for the Morris School District for enrichment programs and other projects aimed at enhancing the quality of education and educational opportunities for students in the district,” added Servais.

Last year, the event raised over $90,000 for the Morris Educational Foundation. Tickets for the show will go on sale in early 2017 through The Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown.
