At 7 am on Sunday, the first wave rolled around the Morristown Green. Several more waves followed, as the sixth annual Gran Fondo NJ shifted into gear for a day of scenic rides starting and ending downtown.
Some 2,400 cyclists participated, a new record, according to Gran Fondo NJ founder Marty Epstein.
Our thanks to Pamela Babcock, who caught some of the early action in these videos. Readers of a certain age may recognize the fellow with the traffic flag as Morristown High alum Patrick McGoldrick (’09).
He lives in New Brunswick, but his heart is here.
“I love Morristown to death. This is just my favorite place to be,” he said, between shouts of encouragement to riders whirring past him en route to Mendham and beyond.

What a wonderful day and event or us all. I couldn’t help but be reminded that on this day 15 years agao a group of individuals approximately the same size lost their lives just because they happened to be in the same place at that time. God Bless America, God Bless Grand Frodo
