Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the pool–after all the tree limbs had been fished out, and all but one electrical customer in Morris Township was back online after last week’s freak storm–we have another severe thunderstorm watch.

severe thunderstorm warningMorris is among eight New Jersey counties that should be on the lookout through 8 pm today, July 18, 2016, warns the National Weather Service.

Fifty-mile-per-hour winds and pea-sized hail are possible, according to the forecast.

Emergency management offices in the Township and the county are keeping a close eye on the storms, which are barreling here from Pennsylvania at about 30 mph.

If you observe power outages, please report them by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877) or  via text or online.

Jersey Central Power and Light reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity.

Extra caution should be used where downed wires are tangled with trees or other debris. Customers should immediately report downed wires to JCP&L or call Morris Township Police at 973-539-0777. In case of an emergency call 911.

And if you’re the last person from last week without electrical service in the Township, and you still have enough battery power in your cell phone to read this…how are you holding up?  Drop us a line.
