Water quality has become a hot local issue, in the wake of lead contamination at Morristown Medical Center and in schools of the Morris School District.

What can be done?  Ask Rutgers University water expert Daniel Van Abs.  He will speak in Morristown on June 21, 2016.

His 7:30 pm talk, “Threats and Opportunities for Clean Water in NJ,”  is the third in an environmental series hosted by the Morris Township Democratic Committee. Admission is $10.

Abs will speak at the Visiting Nurse Association, at 175 South St. in Morristown. Free parking is behind the building. RSVP here.

Van Abs is an associate professor of Practice for Water, Society and Environment at Rutgers University, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences.

Previously, he was senior director for Planning & Science with the Highlands Water Protection and Planning Council, where he managed staff efforts regarding implementation of the Highlands Regional Master Plan. In addition, he has held a number of other state posts in environmental protection and water resources planning.

Professor Van Abs has a doctorate in environmental science from the State University of New York and he is a licensed professional planner in New Jersey. He is the co-editor of a Rutgers University Press book, “Taking Chances: The Coast After Sandy.” He is also a regular contributor to NJ Spotlight, a non-profit news service.
