Congratulations to this year’s honorees of the Morristown Women in Business!

Earlier this week, the organization gave its second annual Melody McGinley Whitelaw Award for community service to Allison Larena, president of the Mayo Performing Arts Center; Kadie Dempsey, head of arts in the community for Morris Arts; and Abby Ray Gallo, executive director of Grow It Green Morristown.

The award was named for the late  Chef Melody, “Caterer to the Stars,” who donated her time and food to countless charity events.

“We looked for a recipient with similar characteristics to what Melody brought to Morristown,” said Mary Dougherty, who co-founded the Women in Business with Melody in 2013. “She was there to help everybody across the board, and touched many lives. We felt each of these ladies do that.”

They received plaques crafted at Glassworks Studio.

Rounding out the awards in the Starlight Room at the Mayo Center:

The South+Pine American Eatery was named best new business, and Suzi’s Salon was chosen as best established business.
