A woman was injured during a purse-snatching on Western Avenue late on Saturday, Morristown police said.

A 40-year-old woman was walking home around 11:20 pm, between Ann and Plum streets, when an unknown man ran from behind her and snatched the purse from her shoulder, according to police Lt. Stuart Greer.

“The man then ran away at which time the victim realized she was bleeding from a small cut to her arm,” Greer said in a statement.

The victim was treated at Morristown Medical Center for a “minor, non life- threatening injury,” and was released.

Her attacker was described as being approximately 5-foot-10,  wearing a black hooded jacket. He was last seen running on Western Avenue towards Ann Street.

The incident is under investigation by Morristown police and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Section.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jim Green at 973-538-2200.
