I want to thank you for your continued support. I am grateful to the residents of the Fourth Ward who put their faith and trust in me for a third term.

I am writing to inform you that the election lawsuit filed by Justin Davis against the County and me was dropped.  Davis faxed a letter Monday afternoon to my attorney, Catherine M. Brown, Esq., and dropped the charges just minutes before we were scheduled to appear in court Monday. Here are the news stories that appeared on Morristown Green:

While I can understand that someone might request a recount on a narrow win, I find it especially disturbing that a candidate would not graciously concede following a recount, recheck and state certification.

Furthermore, to go so far as to file a 10-page, 65-count law suit insinuating illegal activity and naming individuals — primarily the elderly, visually impaired or otherwise disabled residents — who made the extra effort to participate in our valued democratic process is beyond comprehension.

To drop the suit minutes before the court date and to say in the same breath you still want to serve on a board or run for office, (as if the concept of the law suit itself caused no questions), is still unbelievable to me.

I appreciate those of you who took the time and made the choice to Vote by Mail or on Election Day. Your vote is important. You have my promise that I will continue to watch over our tax dollars responsibly and with voter turnout at an all-time low, I will always work to keep you engaged and informed as best I can and to use my council experience and office appropriately.

I look forward to focusing on town council issues and matters and becoming even more effective, engaged and experienced.

I understand there is a Public Workshop on Monday 12/14/15 from 6 pm to 8 pm discussing the vision for the Headquarters Avenue “Pioneers Park.”

Public participation is welcome and encouraged. The Council Reorganization Meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at 7 pm in Town Hall, Council Chambers. The next and last council meeting of the calendar year will be 12/22/15 at 7:30 pm. Hope to see you.

Enjoy your weekend. I know I will. As always, if you have any questions, call or email me. I will be setting up defined office hours in the new year.

Sincerely yours,

Alison Deeb
Council member, Fourth Ward

  1. Congratulations, but it shouldn’t have come to that. I too was subjected to a contestant for public office in MoTown that forced an issue to go to litigation but then rolled over on the day of the hearing. It left me more frustrated than if the judge had decided against me. Fortunately i was able to represent myself (and obtain a bit of free legal advice).
