We’re not advocating throwing them on the barbie. But you can put your candidates on the hot seat.

league of women voters logoNow’s your chance to stump them on the stump.  A Morristown council candidates’ forum is scheduled for tonight, Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, at 7:30 at the Alexander Hamilton School.

It’s sponsored by the League of Women Voters. You can get a sense of what to expect by watching last week’s Morris Township committee debate.

Three out of four Morristown wards have contested races. Two incumbents (Rebecca Feldman, Independent, First Ward; and Raline Smith-Reid, Democrat, Second Ward) are stepping down, so there will be new faces on the council as of Jan. 1.

Next month’s election looks like this:

In the First Ward, Republican Robert Iannaccone is challenging Democrat Chris Russo.

In the Second Ward, Pastor Sidney Williams Jr. is running for the Republicans against Democrat Hiliari Davis Oyesanya.

Democratic incumbent Stefan Armington is unopposed in the Third Ward.

The Fourth Ward pits the council’s lone Republican, Alison Deeb, against Democratic challenger Justin Davis.

Behind the scenes, Feldman is treasurer for Iannaccone. And Democratic incumbents Smith-Reid and Michelle Dupree Harris are campaigning for Williams, a Republican.

  1. Good to see that the public can hear from those running.
Thank you Morristown Green for getting the word out.
Sadly many registered voters are either too busy to pay attention or just don’t care to even vote.
When you think of how many countries in the world do not even have open elections or how hard people here had to work to get the vote it makes me wonder what is up with people?
