Morris Plains remembers 9/11 victims in solemn ceremony

Morris Plains marked Friday’s anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks with student poems and essays, hymns, and sirens that signaled the moment of each attack on that grim morning in 2001.

Pupils from the Borough School and St. Virgil’s Academy gave readings at the base of a twisted beam from the World Trade Center.

Borough School Principal Andrew Kramar shared his memories of being inside One World Trade Center when a plane struck.

Mayor Frank Druetzler also said a few words, and the Rev. Scott Blythe of the Presbyterian Church in Morris Plains delivered the benediction.

Kevin Lynch, a student at the Borough School, played Taps on his bugle.

Eileen Marsha Greenstein  of the borough was among nine residents of Greater Morristown who perished on 9/11. Sixty-four victims were from Morris County.
