Back in June, Morristown police made their first save with Narcan, a medication that can reverse a heroin overdose.

If similar emergencies arise, officers will be ready. Morristown Medical Center this week donated a case of naloxone, as the drug also is known, to the department.

The hospital already has trained the department, at the behest of Chief Pete Demnitz, in how to recognize heroin overdoses and administer the treatment.
