The Red Cross is providing assistance to seven survivors of Tuesday morning’s fatal Pine Street fire in Morristown, according to the organization.

Meanwhile, investigators from the Morristown fire department, Morris County Sheriff’s Office and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office were combing the charred house at 15 Pine St. for clues to what caused the tragedy.

Red Cross Assisting Families Displaced by Fires in Morristown and Newark

 FAIRFIELD, NJ, July 14, 2015The American Red Cross North Jersey Region is currently assisting seven people displaced by a home fire in Morristown and nine people displaced by a home fire in Newark. Both fires occurred late last evening.

Morristown

Two volunteer members of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) responded to provide comfort and emergency assistance to the families affected by a fire on Pine Street in Morristown. The volunteers met with seven individuals and have provided all with Red Cross emergency assistance for food and clothing needs. All seven people are staying with friends and family.

Two volunteer members of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) responded to provide comfort and emergency assistance to the families affected by a home fire on Wainwright Street in Newark. Volunteers met with two families displaced from their homes and have provided Red Cross emergency assistance in the form of temporary lodging, food and clothing to nine people.

Red Cross volunteers remain available to those affected for support, counseling and referrals to local agencies that may provide long-term assistance during their recovery.

All emergency assistance is free to those affected by disasters and is made possible through the donation of time by dedicated Red Cross volunteers and the generosity of the American public.
