FROM THE SUSSEX AVENUE SCHOOL
Students at the Sussex Avenue School brought history to life last week in the gymnasium with a living wax museum.
Four 3rd grade classes participated in the even,t including Mrs. Bonkoski’s class, Ms. Clark’s class, Mrs. Fortunato’s class and Ms. Michel’s class.
As a part of the biography reading unit, students spent several weeks reading and researching books, online research databases, and websites about a person from American and/or world history that made a positive contribution to the advancement of society.
Students typed their biography reports using Google Docs on recently purchased Chromebooks provided by the Morris School District.
Through the research, students learned how these significant people of the past lived their lives, both personally and professionally, and how their contributions improved our society today.
During the wax museum, parents, other classes, and teachers walked around listening to the speeches students had written and presented.
Listeners were asked to press a red button on a music stand and the student would begin his speech. A good time was had by all.
