Imagine being a musical- and cultural icon… and never knowing it.

In the late ’60s, a Detroit musician named Rodriguez seemed to possess all the tools for stardom: Superb songwriting, an original style, an aura of mystery.  But his album bombed.

South Africa, that was another story.  Bootleg copies caused a sensation there, during the apartheid era.

Two South Africans set out to discover what happened to Rodriguez. Suicide?  Death on stage?  Swirling rumors added to the legend.  The result: Searching for Sugar Man, winner of the 2012 Oscar for best documentary.

It’s playing at 7 o’clock tonight, April 9, 2015, at the Morristown & Township Library, at One Miller Road in Morristown. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served.

This wonderful movie will punch holes in the grey gloom that is masquerading as April.

If you have time, arrive early and check out the library’s upstairs exhibit celebrating the 275th anniversary of Morris Township.
