The Morristown High Girls Lacrosse team will host its fourth annual LaxFest on April 26, 2015. The Colonials will coach younger players during nearly three hours of drills and games. A radar gun will see who has the fastest shot, too.

Girls from the Morristown Neighborhood House afterschool program will be invited to the event. The MHS team has run a program at the Nabe for girls in grades K-5.

The fee to participate in LaxFest is $5; proceeds will benefit the Nabe, according to a spokesperson there,

MHS players also supported last month’s Pedal for a Cure fundraiser, to help a Morristown family struggling with cancer.

MORRISTOWN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS LAXFEST SUPPORTS NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE

On April 26, 2015, the Morristown Girls Lacrosse teams will host LaxFest from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at Morristown High School. LaxFest brings people together for a community-wide celebration of lacrosse for players of all skill levels.

Begun in 2011, this year the event will support the Morristown Neighborhood House. The MHS Girls and the Neighborhood House have a special connection forged when Maddy Heher, senior captain, brought the MHS Varsity Girls Lacrosse team to the Neighborhood House to run an after-school clinic for girls K-5 at the NABE. This exposed girls at the NABE to lacrosse for the first time in their lives.

“LaxFest provides girls of all levels the opportunity to embrace new skills and learn not only from the High School players, but from each other,” said Heher. “It unites the community together for a great day full of lacrosse and giving back.”

The LaxFest event will consist of the Morristown High School Girls lacrosse program (Varsity, JV, and Freshman) coaching the younger players. There will be stations with shooting drills, games, and even a radar gun to see who has the fastest shot. Snacks and drinks will be provided for the girls as well.

The girls from the Morristown Neighborhood House Afterschool Program who attended the clinic will also be invited to the event.

This program provides children a safe place to be after school and the opportunity to participate in educational, enrichment, and recreational activities. More than 300 children improve their academic performance, social skills, and health through participation in one of the Nabe afterschool programs.
