whole foods logoOne of the most-asked questions in Morristown now has an answer:

April 22, 2015.  At 9 am.

That’s when Whole Foods Market officially opens its doors on Washington Street, at the former A&P location.

In a statement, the company said its 13th New Jersey store “will serve as a gathering place for local residents, providing them with an expansive and unrivaled selection of high quality natural and organic goods as well as a variety of unique and delicious dining options.

“Opening day will start with the company’s traditional bread breaking ceremony at 9 a.m. followed by giveaways and tastings throughout the store.”

As for the former Washington Cleaners building on the site, Whole Foods withdrew its plans for a pizzeria there in January. Last we heard from town planning officials, the grocery people were considering removing the structure to create more parking.

But according to company spokesman Michael Sinatra, “There are no formal plans for that structure at this time.”

  1. Its about time that Kings received competition. The prices at Kings are unjustifiably high and the lack of intown competition has made it worse. Welcome Whole Foods!

  2. what ever happened to the A&P liquor license? Whole Foods have always been known for their thoughtful wine choices… There few choices in this regard in the west part of the town.

  3. So excited about Whole Foods and their new store, and so are many others I know. I am a fan! I also love TJs but WF is fantastic too, Welcome to Morristown, Whole Foods!
