grow it green logoIf you ever wanted to try your hand at farming — or maybe feel like it’s time to return to your roots — Grow It Green Morristown has an opportunity for you.

The nonprofit plans to hire an Assistant Farmer, for 33 weeks from April to November 2015.

It’s a 35-hour-per-week gig, with some weekends and evenings.  The “office” will be the Early Street Community Garden and the Urban Farm at Lafayette, mostly.  Grow It Green Executive Director Abby Gallo says:

The Assistant Farmer will be responsible for assisting in food production, education, and coordinating the distribution of produce to Grow It Green Morristown’s various constituencies. The Assistant Farmer should have a desire to learn more about gardening and production of food, as well as have a desire to work with children and the public. The Assistant Farmer will help ensure properties at both sites are well maintained.

Because the Assistant Farmer will be working with schoolkids, he or she can expect a background check and fingerprinting.  Love of the outdoors is a must, along with a tolerance for bugs.

Candidates should submit a  cover letter and resume  by March 13, 2015.  Here are more details about the job.
