THURSDAY, FEB. 12, 2014:
Love LEGO© bricks? Stop by the Morris Museum from 11 am to 5 pm for the Brick by Brick exhibit showcasing LEGO sculptures from artists, architects and engineers. The exhibition includes sculptures of famous buildings, favorite snacks, memorable masterpieces, and a large-scale working LEGO model train. All visitors are invited to visit the hands-on stations to build their own mini-figure, and to “write” their name on the LEGO wall. For kids of all ages. Free with museum admission. FRIDAY, FEB. 13:
The Raymond Saá exhibit opens with a reception from 6 pm to 8 pm at the Simon Gallery, 48 Bank St., Morristown. Miss the opening? That’s okay – the exhibit runs until March 14, 2015.
Stop by the Center for Spiritual Living Morristown for a free film. Shorts begin at 7 pm, followed by the feature, BARAKA at 7:30pm. Directed by Ron Fricke, the film doesn’t feature a conventional narrative; rather, it visits people, places, and things from around the world. All are free, but love offerings are accepted. SATURDAY, FEB. 14:
What better way to appreciate the Continental Army’s “Hard Winter” in Morristown than to visit Washington’s Headquarters on the coldest weekend of the year? Admission is free today, Sunday and Monday at the Washington’s Headquarters Museum and Ford Mansion, at 30 Washington Place. Details are here.
Say Happy 95th Birthday to the League of Women Voters from 3 pm to 6 pm at the Tashmoo Restaurant and Bar in Morristown in Morristown. The party, expected to draw a number of young professionals from the area, will feature free appetizers, drink specials, prizes and trivia. SUNDAY, FEB. 15:
The Jerzey Derby Brigade is hosting a charity scrimmage to benefit victims of last month’s Elm Street fire. It starts at 2 pm an InLine Morristown, at 38 Dumont Place. The scrimmage is open to men and women who have passed a minimum skills test; please bring shirts in white and black, with your skater number on each. The cost is $5, with proceeds promised to help families and businesses displaced by the fire. Contact Cindy Chisvette for more details.
MONDAY, FEB. 16, PRESIDENTS DAY:
The 141st annual luncheon of the Washington Association of New Jersey takes place at the Madison Hotel at 11:30 am. The public is invited to celebrate our first president, George Washington, and the feats of the Continental Army that took place around Morristown some 235 years ago. Dr. Edward Lengel will deliver the annual address. The award-winning historian and professor at the University of Virginia has appeared in documentaries about Washington on The History Channel, National Geographic, and the Weather Channel.
