Abendmusik: “It’s Love” A Valentine’s Day Cabaret Tea with Jim Fredericks & June Van Thoen

Abendmusik, the concert series sponsored by Music@MUMC, continues its 2014-2015 30th Anniversary season with a cabaret on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at 4 pm, featuring Jim Fredericks and June Van Thoen. 

The Cabaret will be held in the Fellowship Hall and will begin with desserts and tea.  There is a suggested donation of $20 for adults and $15 for senior citizens.  Advance tickets are available ($17 adults/$12 seniors) by telephoning the church office 973-538-2132.  Students with ID are admitted Free.  The concert will be presented at Morristown United Methodist Church, 50 Park Place (on the Green).  Our facilities are handicapped accessible.  Please visit our website for more information: www.morristownumc.com

Jim Fredericks Jim Fredericks, singer, actor, and director, has appeared in over sixty music theatre productions opposite such stars as Giorgio Tozzi, Jane Powell, Claire Bloom, JoAnne Worley, Mimi Hines, Victoria Clark.  With the Collegiate Chorale Jim has had the good fortune to sing under the direction of Zubin Mehta, James Levine, Riccardo Muti, in concert venues in Tel Aviv, Salzburg, and Verbier.  He has been priviledged to eppear at Carnegie Hall in “Carousel”, which starred Hugh Jackman and Audra McDonald.  Jim has directed numerous revenues, including one of his favorites, “Closer Than Ever”, and “A Date with Oscar and Tony” for Greensboro Opera (NC).  As a cabaret performer, Jim partnered with JoAnn Cunningham in such venues as Robert on Columbus Circle, The Players Club, the Mark Hotel, and the Print William Sound College Annual Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska.  Jim has also headlined at the club Garbo’s in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  He most recently sang with the New York Choral Artists and The New York Philharmonic in three performance of Verdi’s “Requiem.”  Jim is on the music faculty at Adelphi University.  He works frequently as a singer/pianist for private and corporate events and coaches singers and actors.  Jim is thrilled to be reunited with June on the Cabaret Circuit here at Morristown United Methodist!

June Van Thoen graduated from East Carolina University (Greenville, NC) with a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance.  While there, she was a member of the Summer Stock Theater.  She toured as soloist and chorister for two seasons with the Norman Luboff Choir and then attended the Music Academy of the West (Santa Barbara, CA).  Her singing ranges from opera to oratorio to song recitals to Broadway/cabaret.  She is the Director of Music Ministries at the Morristown United Methodist Church where she conducts three vocal choirs and a handbell choir and is the Director of two concert series: Music At Noon and Abendmusik.  She is thrilled to be performing with Jim again; one of her favorite people!
