MORRIS CHORAL SOCIETY TO HOLD AUDITIONS

Morristown – The Morris Choral Society will hold open auditions for new singers on Monday, Jan. 12, and Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. The award-winning group continues its 42nd concert season and their annual spring concert which is always the culmination of their work.

This year’s concert will feature a patriotic program with works that pay tribute to New Jersey’s 350th anniversary and the Bicentennial of our National Anthem. Two of the works to be featured at the Star Spangled Spectacular are Randall Thompson’s Frostiana and his Testament to Freedom.

Anyone interested in singing with the 80-voice community chorus is welcome to audition. The ability to read music is helpful, but not required. However, choral experience and a blending voice are requested.

The Jan. 12 audition/rehearsal will be held at Frelinghuysen Middle School at Jane Way in Morris Township and the Jan. 19 audition/rehearsal will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 131 Mountain Ave. in Morristown.

The Morris Choral Society was named Outstanding Arts Organization by Morris Arts and its founder and musical director, R. Wayne Walters of Parsippany, has been recognized as an Outstanding Professional in the Arts. The chorus has completed eight European concert tours and is an integral party of the Morris County arts and education scene.
