The 5th annual Christmas Market at Assumption Church in Morristown promises a delightful experience that can’t be found at the malls — while benefiting relief effort of Africa Surgery Inc.

It’s scheduled for Dec. 13 and 14, 2014, in the church community room at 91 Maple Ave.

Morristown-based Africa Surgery brings doctors and patients together in Sierra Leone, for healing and hope.  While Africa Surgery’s traditional programs have been slowed by the current Ebola epidemic, the organization is modifying its mission to help local health care providers face this new health care challenge in the hardest hit area of West Africa.

Tom Johnson, founder of Africa Surgery, welcomes and thanks all of the supporters who shop and volunteer at the Christmas Market. They “make it possible to continue our new work of providing support for some of the many children orphaned by the Ebola epidemic,” he said.

The Market offers a wide variety of vendors with hand-crafted items, homemade cookies and sweets.

Products for sale include: Christmas ornaments and cards, gift cards, fine art photography, watercolor paintings, hand-knit hats and scarves, fashion accessories, jewelry, author-signed books, note cards, and more.

Vendors contribute 50- to 100 percent of their profits to Africa Surgery.

New to the Christmas Market this year is live Christmas music by the Randolph High School Chamber Strings Orchestra, harpist Robbin Gordon-Cartier, and the Cicely Tyson School of Performing Arts. Musicians will perform at 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

Sale hours are 2 pm to 7 pm on  Saturday and 7 am to 7 pm on Sunday. Free parking is available behind the church.
