‘King of the Keyboards’ leads music for Organ, Brass and Choir, Nov. 22 in Morristown

Kevin GrafAbendmusik, the concert series sponsored by Music@MUMC, continues its 2014-2015 30th anniversary season with a concert on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at 7:30 pm, featuring organist Kevin Graf. 

Mr. Graf will also be joined by the Voices of Praise Choir under the direction of Sheila Smith.  There is a suggested donation of $20 for adults and $15 for senior citizens.  Advance tickets are available ($17 adults/$12 seniors) by telephoning the Morristown United Methodist Church ate 973-538-2132.  Students with ID are admitted Free.

Kevin Graf was born in Red Bank, New Jersey, and grew up in the nearby town of Fair Haven.  He recently graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a BA degree in Psychology and Economics.

While a student at IU, he studied organ with Sarah Moon, Zhenya Jaynes, and Christopher Young.  Upon graduating, he began as the organist at Morristown United Methodist Church.  Prior to this position, he held the position of organist at First Presbyterian Church of Long Branch, NJ.

Since coming to MUMC, he has become an active participant in the Morristown music community, and is a member of the Metropolitan chapter of the American Guild of Organists.  Apart from playing the organ and piano, he is also an avid handbell ringer.  He has been a member of the Symphonic Bells of Bloomington, and has toured throughout Germany, Italy and the Czech Republic with the Calvin and Chapel Handbell Ringers of Tower Hill.

In addition to playing the organ, he also works  for the Nielsen Company as a Market Research Analyst.   His repertoire will include works by Bach, Durufle, Bolcom and Reger.  For additional information about the church’s 53-rank Austin pipe organ, please visit the website at www.morristownumc.com.

The Voices of Praise Choir is a Christ-centered choir made up of 60-plus voices from over 20 local churches, with an orchestra of professional and semi-professional musicians.  They are under the direction of Sheila Smith.  They will be presenting music for choir, organ and brass.
