A half-century ago, Herman’s Hermits scored their first hit with I’m Into Something Good.

Lead singer Peter Noone, a.k.a. Herman, had no idea how prophetic that Goffin-King song would be.

“I always think it’s going to be better tomorrow,” Noone says.

And he’s usually right.

Noone will bring his bag of Hermetic hits to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center on Nov. 20, 2014. He’ll share the bill with the Buckinghams (Kind of a Drag).

In this half-hour podcast with MorristownGreen.com, Noone, who turned 67 this month, reflects on his teenaged days with such fellow British Invaders as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Who.

He talks about meeting the King — our king, Elvis Presley — and selling more than 50 million copies of infectious pop numbers like Mrs. Brown You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter, Henry the VIII I Am, Kind of a Hush and Can’t You Hear My Heartbeat.

Yet while he’s got plenty to say about those heady times, Noone is just as excited by what followed — and what’s to come.

Every technology has improved since 1964…except telephone quality! Still, well worth a listen:

The former child TV star has toured in Pirates of Penzance and appeared in everything from Married With Children and Quantum Leap to As the World Turns.  He hosted My Generation on VH1, is a familiar face on PBS oldies pledge drives, and does a weekly show on Sirius XM radio.  He plays more than 100 concerts a year, occasionally singing with his daughter Natalie.

She was only 7 the first time we interviewed Noone, 20 years ago.

Time flies. “Herman” is enjoying the ride.

“It’s Panglossian,” he says. “I’m naively optimistic.”
