Grow It Green Morristown has named Abby Gallo as its first executive director.

The Morristown resident, who most recently worked for Samsung Electronics in a sustainability role, joins the nonprofit as it embarks on a $200,000 fundraising drive to improve the Early Street Community Garden, opened in 2009.

“We look forward to working together to achieve great things for the community,” Grow It Green co-founder Samantha Rothman said in a statement.

” Having an executive director will enhance the organization’s capacity to be an agent for positive change in the greater Morristown area,” she said.

“As a Morristown resident, I’ve been so impressed with what Grow it Green has accomplished in such a short period of time, and I look forward to the organization’s new period of growth,” said Gallo, a former contributor to MorristownGreen.com.

Gallo holds a master’s degree in sustainability management from Columbia University.

Grow It Green will hold an open house on Nov. 18, 2014, at 7 pm at its office at 14 Maple Ave.
