Morristown police advise that Chestnut Street will be closed to through traffic today, Aug. 19, 2014, between 9 am and 3 pm, for sewer grate repairs.
But the real challenges come on Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 20-21, on Ridgedale Avenue. As we noted previously, the state is replacing railroad tracks between 7 am Wednesday and 4 pm on Thursday, at Ridgedale and John Street.
Police warn of “significant traffic delays.” Businesses will remain open, but through traffic will be diverted onto these detours:
Northbound Ridgedale Avenue – traffic heading towards Morris Township / Hanover Township and all points north will be detoured onto westbound Abbett Avenue, northbound Martin Luther King Avenue, eastbound Hanover Avenue back to Ridgedale Avenue.
Southbound Ridgedale Avenue – traffic heading towards Morristown and all points south will be detoured onto eastbound East Hanover Avenue, southbound Whippany Road, westbound LaFayette Avenue back to Ridgedale Avenue.
“As Ridgedale Avenue is a heavily traveled roadway, all motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate routes if at all possible,” said Police Lt. Stuart Greer.
