Teen Librarian Sandy Hall’s first novel, A Little Something Different, is being released by Swoon Reads on Aug. 26, 2014.

Online readers chose the manuscript to be the first book published by the Macmillan imprint.

The library will celebrate on Aug. 26 with a book party at 7 pm. Autographed copies of Sandy’s teen romance novel–a genre she prefers to the dystopian fiction crowding bookshelves today– will be for sale.

“So many stories take place in a far-off, terrible future. It’s nice to come back and see it’s not so bad, there are no zombies or plagues,” Sandy told MorristownGreen.com in February.

Here’s more, from the library:

a little something different, by sandy hallMORRISTOWN, NJ—How’s this for a little something different?  Sandy Hall, our teen librarian at The Morristown & Morris Township Library uploaded a draft of her first novel onto a crowdsourcing website and now is getting her first novel published by Swoon Reads, an imprint of Macmillan Publishing!   The Library is hosting the book launch for Sandy’s first book, entitled A Little Something Different, at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, the official release date for the book.  Copies of the book will be for sale and Sandy will be on hand to greet friends and patrons and sign any copies.  A Little Something Different is an irresistible and original romance between two college students as told from fourteen different viewpoints, including a squirrel and a park bench!  Please join us in celebrating Sandy’s first book.  Light refreshments will be served.  This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Morristown & Morris Township Library.

In the spring, our Young Adult Librarian Sandy Hall had been tapped to publish her book about a girl named Lea and a guy named Gabe and how they just don’t seem to be able to connect romantically.  Swoon Reads selected her manuscript from the nearly 200 that were accessible on their website.  Sandy uploaded her novel in November 2013 and within weeks the manuscript received ‘five hearts’ from the Swoon Reads community of users online who read the draft.  The manuscript rose to the attention of the editors at Swoon Reads, who contacted Sandy and inked a deal to publish the novel.

Since its launch on September 30, 2013, Swoon Reads [https://www.swoonreads.com] has grown to include readers and writers from across the world who submit, read, and comment on manuscripts that capture the intensity and excitement of teen love. More than an imprint, Swoon Reads is a community whose members are involved in every step of the publishing process, from the initial discovery of the manuscript to the marketing and publicizing of the finished book.
