Morristown police make drug arrests on the Green

An undercover operation on the Morristown Green led to the arrest of three people on drug charges on Tuesday morning.

morristown police badgeMorristown Police Officers Scott Weaver and Anthony O’Brien were in plain clothes, on a detail that targets quality of life issues, when they observed three individuals who seemed suspicious, said Lt. Stuart Greer.

While under surveillance, the suspects appeared to conduct a drug transaction, Lt. Greer said. It was around 10:40 a.m.

The officers arrested:

Kenneth Widdis 3rd, age 28, from East Stroudsburg, PA, who was charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled dangerous substance CDS (suspected heroin)
  • Possession of CDS with the intent to distribute
  • Possession of CDS with the intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park.
  • Possession of CDS with the intent to distribute within 1000 feet of a school
  • Possession of a prescription drug legend in an amount over 5
  • Possession of a hypodermic syringe
  • Possession of CDS paraphernalia

Michelle Trasente, 22, from Randolph, charged with:

  • Possession of CDS (suspected synthetic cannabinoid)
  • Possession of a hypodermic syringe
  • Possession of CDS paraphernalia

Jeffrey Schermerhorn, 24, of Madison, charged with:

  • Possession of CDS (suspected heroin)
  • Possession of a hypodermic syringe

Widdis and Trasente were transported to the Morris County Jail in lieu of bail.  Schermehorn was served with a summons and released pending a future court date.
