Isn’t it better to experience a Mid-Life Crisis on your own terms?
The same goes for The Nut Job.
Well, Morris Township is ready to help. Mid-Life Crisis, “Morris County’s Eclectic Party Band,” takes to the gazebo at Ginty Field for a free concert at 7 pm tonight, Tuesday, July 22, 2014, with a playlist ranging from the Allman Brothers to ZZ Top.
Bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a dance partner.
And bring the family back on Wednesday, July 23, for a free outdoor screening of The Nut Job, the animated story of Surly,
an incorrigibly self-serving exiled squirrel, finds himself helping his former park brethren raid a nut store to survive. However, there is more going on with the nut store, being a front for bank robbers. Meanwhile the park’s leader Raccoon has his own agenda to ensure his own power. In the mayhem to come, Surly finds himself challenged in ways he never expected and discovering the real prize to treasure in this adventure.
The movie rolls at 8:45 pm. But arrive early for fun and games with the township’s summer staff, and music requests at 7:30 pm played by our friends at SummitSoundz.
The rest of the summer concert lineup looks like this:
- Tuesday, July 29: United States Army Field Band & Soldiers Chorus
- Tuesday, Aug. 5: Aftermath
- Tuesday, Aug. 12: The Moonlighters Swing Orchestra (makeup of rainout)
Two more outdoor movies are scheduled this summer and fall:
Saturday, Aug. 23: The animated comedy classic Despicable Me 2. It’s also the night of the Park and Recreation Department’s third annual Family Camp-Out Night at Ginty Field.
Saturday, Oct. 25: Just in time for Halloween, it’s the 1985 adventure-comedy classic The Goonies.
