Tim Howard was stellar.

Yet the goalkeeper’s brilliant performance was not enough to stop Belgium, which  clung to a 2-1 lead  to eliminate a valiant American squad from the World Cup competition on Tuesday.

Fans who packed Morristown bars to watch the spectacle on TV seemed to handle their disappointment well enough. At Grasshopper Off the Green, one distraught fan loudly suggested a U.S. invasion of Belgium.

He was just joking.

We think.
