A Special ‘After Hours’ Event

MORRISTOWN, NJ—What happens at the Library after the building is closed?  Do the bookworms come out looking for new titles?  Does the NSA carry out covert measures?  Well, on Friday, April 4 at least, the Morristown & Morris Township Library opens back up for some contemporary music!  The Morristown area-based band called BADGE will hold a benefit concert featuring contemporary music ranging from the Beatles to the Decemberists and from Johnny Cash to Eric Clapton.  The concert begins at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets cost$5.00 per person and are only available at the door, the night of the event.  All proceeds benefit the Library.  Come join us for a fun evening out.  Refreshments will be served and this program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

“BADGE” is an acronym for a musical group based in the Morristown area consisting of the following people: Bruce Kanter: lead guitar and vocals; Art Klein: guitar, mandolin, recorder, vocals; Drew Thraen: rhythm guitar and vocals; Dana Fried: drums; Gary Sharpe: bass guitar, 12-string guitar; and Eve Cohen: vocals, percussion.

The group has been playing together for about 6 years and though nearly everyone in the group works full-time, Art and Drew have written original material for the group and continue to create original songs. The group has done a number of performances at Uncle Vinny’s Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Whippany and has been publicized on WMTR 1250 AM radio.  BADGE has played for numerous groups in the area including political fundraisers, Temple B’nai Or in Morristown, senior residences, and the Relay for Life of Morristown.

“BADGE” performs an eclectic mix of music: folk, country-pop, rock, blues, ballads, etc.  Current performances include music by Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, The Rolling Stones, The Monkees, Ringo Starr, and others.  The current repertoire also includes music performed by Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, Coldplay, the Eagles, Keith Urban, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and The Decemberists.

The library is at One Miller Road in Morristown.
