The third time was the charm for Morristown High.

Senior co-captain Brian Begley scored with 33 seconds left in regulation time to break a scoreless tie against Ramsey on Sunday night in Newark’s Prudential Center.

The goal, assisted by co-captain Cam Szary, gave Morristown its first hockey title.

Junior goalie Shane Brown stopped 22 shots as the team shut down Ramsey’s Alex Whelan, one of the top scorers in the state.

This was the third straight trip to the finals for Coach Bobby Jones’ Colonials.

He called this his hardest working club that scrapped for every goal.

“We’re not the prettiest team, we’re not the most skilled team. But this is a hard, hard working team and they’re very deserving of what they got tonight,” the coach said.
