Last Monday, Feb. 10, the Presbyterian Church in Morristown was recognized by the Morris School District Board of Ed for its Morris Afterschool Program, a weekly tutoring program begun last fall.
Tutors provide extra attention in reading, writing and math, as well as one-to-one time with a person who is happy to listen and help.
Each Tuesday from 3:30 to 6 p.m., 20 first-graders are bused from their schools to the PCM educational facility in Morristown, where they receive a snack, play games, enjoy group reading, eat a family style dinner, and receive help with homework, spelling words, math facts, and lots and lots of reading. Every child is encouraged to meet success.
We know we are having an impact when one of our MAP students wishes “that Tuesday was every day of the week!”
