No snow had fallen as of 11:30 pm on Tuesday. But the National Weather Service still was predicting snow and sleet overnight, and so the Morris District and Morris Plains School District both announced that classes are canceled for Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.

All extra curricular programs, Sunrise/Sunset and Community School programs also are canceled in the Morris District.

A winter storm watch remains in effect for Morristown through 4 pm on Wednesday. Four- to 8 inches of snow are possible, followed by a quarter-inch to a half-inch of ice, according to the National Weather Service.

Earlier on Tuesday, Morristown officials urged residents to prepare for extended power outages.
