Darned if the groundhog wasn’t right. Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter on Sunday, and this morning, Feb. 3, 2014, we have… a winter weather advisory, calling for three- to-six inches of snow by 5 pm.

News 12 predicts 5- to 8 inches.

“Widespread hazardous travel developing this morning,” cautions the National Weather Service. “Any standing water or slush will freeze solid tonight” as temperatures plunge into the teens.

Classes and after-school activities are canceled in the Morris School District and the Morris Plains district.

The Morristown & Township Library is closed, too.

We’re betting a lot of runners from Sunday’s Pre-Game 4-Miler  are giving thanks to the snow gods for holding off one day.

Peyton Manning, on the other hand, must be cursing his luck. A blinding snow only could have helped the Broncos against the super-charged Seattle Seahawks in the not-so-super Super Bowl 48.
