“Awesome” was the word on everyone’s lips after the Morristown High School boys varsity basketball team defeated Chatham on Thursday.
The 58-45 victory against a Cougars squad that has made two straight trips to the Morris County finals was impressive on its own–the Colonials jumped to a 19-4 first-quarter lead and now boast an 11-1 record. But the icing on the cake was senior Sean Hoehn’s layup in the third quarter. It put him over the 1,000-point mark for his career.
“Going against a great team like Chatham, it’s great to get the win. To cap off the night with 1,000 points, it’s an awesome feeling,” Sean told Jake Goldberg of Colonial Corner Sports.
“I’ve been able to be on the sidelines for all 1,000, so it’s a special feeling, personally,” Coach Billy Connolly added. “Nobody works as hard as Sean does.”
“We couldn’t have asked for anything better,” senior Zach Certner told Colonial Corner.
Jake’s video highlights also include Eric Demnitz’s first three-pointer, and an interview with Sean Hoehn’s younger brother and teammate, Kevin Hoehn.
Chatham’s record now is 8-4.
Morristown takes to the road for its next game, against West Morris Central (6-6-1) on Feb. 4, 2014.
