How soon is too soon to return to competition after a concussion?  What are the warning signs of cardiac trouble?

A seminar will tackle these and other life-and-death questions on Jan. 29, 2014, at Morristown High School.

A Night of Playing It Safe is sponsored by Barnabas Health. The event starts at 7 pm (registration: 6:30 pm) and features Joetta Clark Diggs, four-time Olympic middle-distance runner and 2013 inductee into the New Jersey Hall of Fame.

Joetta is spokesperson for the Matthew J. Morahan III Health Assessment Center for Athletes at Barnabas Health. She will be joined by John Gallucci Jr. of JAG Physical Therapy and medical coordinator for Major League Soccer, and by Diana Toto, exercise physiologist and program coordinator for the center.

Discussion topics will include:

  • Cardiac and concussion warning signs and symptoms
  • Screening for cardiac issues and baseline concussion testing
  • Tips for young athletes to perform safely
  • Returning to play

To attend, RSVP to TeamLINK@barnabashealth.org.
