Three teens from the Morristown/Morris Township area were arrested after an alert resident in the township’s Butterworth neighborhood called police on Wednesday.
Three males–one 16, the other two, age 17–were apprehended after a neighbor on Fieldstone Drive called Morris Township police.
The resident observed the suspects walk down a driveway and knock on the front door of a house, according to Butterworth residents.
Then the suspects walked to the road and waited. When nobody answered, they went around the back and forced their way through a door, residents said.
One suspect was captured at the scene by Morris Township Police Officers David Kosakowski and Nick Cevasco. Another was arrested nearby by Sgt. David Powell. The K-9 unit of the Morris County Sheriff’s Department helped track down the third suspect.
Police are asking residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1 immediately.
In particular, police ask callers to describe suspects and any vehicles involved with as much detail as possible.
