For your holiday viewing pleasure, we are proud to present 4,000 Miles.

The short documentary won two top awards at this summer’s Sixth Annual MorristownGreen.com Film Festival, and Fiona Mullen and Martha Sohn made it look easy.

But the Morristown High juniors have news for future contestants:

“It’s way more work than it looks like,” said Fiona. “It’s only a four-minute video–”

“But it took, like, months!” interjected Martha. “Shooting all the B-roll was so much work.”

Their production tells the story of Martha’s struggle to adapt to Morristown High after moving from her native Germany in 2011. The video won two new categories at this year’s MG Film Fest, taking the Critics’ Choice and Diversity prizes.

A panel of area filmmakers and prize donors voted for the Critics’ award, while the Diversity award was chosen by jurors from Morris County’s Building Cross Cultural Communities Committee.

Fiona and Martha are avid photographers who have studied with photo teacher Brian Kievning.

The project put the teens’ friendship to the test.

“We definitely had a few fights along the way!” Fiona said.

But, as our video interview below suggests, all’s well that ends well.

We also have included a  video playlist  with all the other winning entries from this year’s MG Film Fest.

Happy Thanksgiving!
