THANKSGIVING 2013
Thank God I’m not a Kennedy.
A strange prayer to share, I know.
Yet it’s truer now, even than it was
One November long ago.
Were I to meet a Kennedy
I would ask this with no malice:
Were a thousand days of Camelot
Worth a single day in Dallas?
Thank God I’m not a Kennedy.
My faith is not that strong
To shoulder crosses now as heavy
As the day is long.
And still…
Thank God for you, the Kennedys,
For daring to conceive,
If only for a moment,
The dreams we might achieve.
