Contrary to what you might think, New Year’s Eve is not the deadliest night for driving. It’s Thanksgiving Eve, according to the Morris Township police.

Capt. Rich Ferrone says that drunk driving patrols are being stepped up for Nov. 27, 2013:

Morris Township police logoThis week the holiday season kicks off. With family and friends returning home, Thanksgiving
Eve, sometimes referred to as “Black Wednesday,” is unofficially considered the busiest bar
night of the year.

This means it’s also the biggest night of the year for drunk driving. Combined
with the most traveled holiday period of the year and what is expected to be some pretty nasty
weather you’re looking at a deadly mix

With this in mind the Morris Township Police Dept. wants everyone to have a safe and happy
holiday but also be aware that we have increased our DWI patrols throughout the period,.

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

In Morristown, meanwhile, residential parking restrictions will be lifted for Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, announced Mayor Tim Dougherty.
