On Thursday, it was Fifty Shades of Grey (the parody) at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

Today, it’s Fifty Shades of White, as in fresh coats of paint for the Mayo’s 2013-14 season opener, featuring nine-time Grammy winner Natalie Cole on Oct. 11, 2013.

Hours before showtime, workers were putting finishing touches on $1.5 million of improvements to the center, which began as the Community Theatre in 1937.

, the facelift includes two new wings–one for the box office, the other for ladies rest rooms–plus an electronic marquee  and elevators.  The box office and some new signage were ready on Thursday, actually, and the new bathrooms were opened recently.

As of mid-afternoon, some seats still were available online for the Natalie Cole show; or call the box office at 973-539-8008.

Here is the calendar of performances for the 2013-2014 season at the Mayo.
