At some point, kids need more than a piggy bank to finance their dreams.

Fourth- and fifth-graders can learn the basics of banking and saving at a free workshop on Sept. 24, 2013, in Morristown.

It’s being presented by J.P. Morgan Chase and Our Youth Their Future, a Morristown nonprofit that promotes healthy choices for children.

The hour-long workshop is scheduled for 5:30 pm at the Marion Sally Residence Center, at 23 Clyde Potts Drive. Complimentary hot snacks, desserts, and beverages will be provided by JP Morgan Chase Bank, and kids will receive a gift for attending.

Call 973-285-2219 to register.

  1. I laud initiatives like this, as it shows there is a an awareness of what kids need. BUT I think a one hour deal isn’t going to cut it. Kids need over-and-over-again modeling from parents, and they need to have fun learning. Books, sites like https://www.bankaroo.com, grocery shopping, getting kids involved in the budget–those kinds of diverse approaches need to be happening every day.
