MAN ALLEGEDLY DEFIES POLICE, LANDS IN HOT WATER WITH IMMIGRATION AUTHORITIES

An undocumented individual was being held on a warrant from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials after he was arrested for allegedly defying orders by Morristown police.

Cristino Reyes-Anariba, 31, of Morristown, was charged with obstruction and refusal to obey police orders after he allegedly refused to get off DeHart Street as instructed three times by Officer Eric Petr.

The officer was trying to clear people who were blocking traffic at 1:49 am on July 20, according to his report. Everyone obeyed orders except Cristino Reyes-Anariba, who said “No” and stared at the officer, the report said.

After the third order was ignored, the officer grabbed the man’s arm and attempted to move him to the sidewalk.

“Don’t f—ing touch me,” the man responded, pulling free.  Officer Roberto Rosado grabbed the man’s arms and Officer Petr applied handcuffs, the report said.

At police headquarters, it was determined that Cristino had a warrant from the town court, and another from ICE.  He was taken to the Morris County Jail, where ICE faxed a detainer to hold him on the immigration matter.

MAN CHARGED WITH FAILING TO USE SIDEWALK

A Metuchen man who appeared to be “highly intoxicated” was charged with disorderly conduct and  failing to use the sidewalk…after allegedly ignoring police instructions to get off Morris Street, police reported.

Officer David Gizzi and three other officers were on bar closing duty outside Grasshopper Off the Green early on July 21 when Officer Gizzi asked Daniel J. Voluz, 23, to return to the sidewalk “for his own safety,” according to the police report.

Daniel Voluz complied, but moments later he was back in the street, despite police admonitions to stay on the sidewalk and to use the crosswalk when crossing the road. After several requests by police, the man produced identification. He was advised to enter a cab and go home.

“He then proceeded to cross Morris Street outside of the crosswalk, after he was just advised to use the crosswalk. Mr. Voluz then began yelling obscene profanities at the officers conducting the bar detail,” Officer Gizzi reported.

When four officers directed Daniel to exit the cab and produce his I.D., he “became very agitated and noncompliant,” throwing his wallet on the ground and bumping one of the officers.

At that point, he was arrested, the report said.
