We never met Jeannette Epstein. But virtually everyone in Morristown knows her son, Marty Epstein of Marty’s Reliable Cycle. And that’s a pretty nice testimonial to her.
She raised a civic-minded guy who is involved in all sorts of worthy causes.
And so now we join Marty in mourning his mother, who passed away on the Fourth of July at age 97. Our sincere condolences to Marty and Fran Epstein; to their son Jesse, another familiar face to Morristown cyclists; and to the whole family.
Born in New Brunswick, Jeannette (Muller) Epstein graduated from Morristown High School in 1934 and lived around Morristown for most of her life. She met her late husband, Morris Epstein, in town and was active in many volunteer activities at the Morristown Jewish Community Center Beit Yisrael, according to her obituary.
In addition to Marty, Jeanette Epstein is survived by a daughter, Susan Salsberg; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Morristown Jewish Community Center Beit Yisrael, at 177 Speedwell Ave., 07960.
