You don’t conquer sports talk radio by keeping your opinions to yourself.

You have to be … a Loudmouth.

Craig Carton, of WFAN’s top-rated Boomer and Carton Show, doesn’t hide that fact.  He has splashed it across a book cover.

At Mendham Books this month, Craig described the long and winding road to his Manhattan microphone.

Starting in Buffalo, he detoured through places like Cleveland, Philadelphia and Trenton.  He never stopped chasing his dream–or rooting for the New York Jets, no matter how lousy they played.

Craig shared anecdotes from  Loudmouth: Tales (and Fantasies) of Sports, Sex, and Salvation from Behind the Microphone, including the splash he made watering his school’s plants as a 5-year-old.  (Kids, do not try this at home!)

As for comparisons to shock jock Howard Stern, well… you’ll just have to watch Craig’s 20-minute interview with actor Peter Marx.

Peter, a Morristown native, is used to outrageous characters. He adopted his surname after playing Chico Marx in Marx Brothers stage revivals.

Other Broadway credits include Showboat, Annie Get Your Gun (opposite Bernadette Peters) and 42nd Street. On TV, Peter has appeared in Murphy Brown, Law & Order, Star Trek (Voyager 2 and The Next Generation) and Knots Landing, among other shows.

An accomplished pianist who studied at the University of Michigan, Peter is on hiatus from performing to raise his two teenaged daughters.

We produced this video in cooperation with the Women’s Association of Morristown Medical Center, which makes sure that patients are well entertained while they are recuperating.

Our thanks to the Women’s Association, Mendham Books and Craig Carton.
