Get up and go: Morristown library to feature fast films for July dog-days

Mondays in July can be kind of slow. So the Morristown & Morris Township Library  is firing up a series of movies to get you fired up.

The free films roll at noon for the first four Mondays during the month, and they include refreshments, courtesy of the Friends of the Morristown & Morris Township Library.

Here is the lineup:

July 1, 2013: Chariots of Fire (1981)

Two British track athletes––one a determined Jew and the other a devout Christian––compete in the 1924 Olympics. Starring Ben Cross, Ian Charleson and Ian Holm; 124 minutes. Rated PG.

July 8, Breaking Away (1979)

A small-town teen obsessed with the Italian bicycling team vies for the affections of a college girl. Starring Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid and Daniel Stern; 100 minutes. Rated PG.

July 15: Fast Runner (2001)

The award-winning telling of an Inuit legend of an evil spirit causing strife in an East Arctic community and one warrior’s endurance and battle of its menace. Starring Natar Ungalaaq, Sylvia Ivalu and Peter-Henry Arnatsiaq; 172 minutes. In Inuit language. Rated R.

July 22: Prefontaine (1997)

Based on the life of Olympic hopeful Steve Prefontaine, a long distance runner who lived in Oregon and became legend. Starring Jared Leto, R. Lee Ermey and Ed O’Neil; 106 minutes. Rated PG-13.
