The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Morris County through 8:45 pm today, June 18, 2013.

Strong thunderstorms may pack 40 mph wind gusts, and heavy rains may cause ponding on roads and rapid rises of small streams and creaks, according to the forecasters.

They advise anyone living near streams or creeks to act immediately to protect life and property.

“Never attempt to cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or in an automobile. Turn around, don’t drown!” cautions the National Weather Service, noting that most flood-related deaths occur in cars.
