Morris Township’s 2013 summer concert series kicks into gear on June 25  with the good-time vibes of The Kootz. And on June 26, the outdoor movie series begins with another family favorite, Madagascar 3.

Both series are free, with 7 pm start times at Ginty Field on Woodland Avenue.

The Township of Morris Department of Parks and Recreation will kick-off its 2013 free Summer Concert Series by presenting The Kootz Band live at the Ginty Field Gazebo on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 7:00 p.m.

The Kootz are one of New Jersey’s hardest working bands. Defining their performances as a “Rock N’ Roll with Fiber,” The Kootz are known for their “feel good” music. Derived from classic rock, pop, soul, and blues, audiences from everywhere indulge in their collective variety of music, and are sold by their charm.

Please join us for an evening of musical fun. Bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy a concert in the great outdoors.

SUMMER 2013 FEATURES GREAT MUSIC

AT MORRIS TOWNSHIP’S GINTY FIELD GAZEBO

 The Township of Morris Department of Parks and Recreation is pleased to present its 2013 Summer Concert Series. The musical performances are free, and we invite residents of the greater Morris County area to join us for evenings of superb music. Bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the musicat the beautiful Ginty Field Gazebo on Woodland Avenue in Morris Township.

The Concert Series kicks off with an all-time crowd favorite – The Kootz Band on Tuesday, June 25th, at 7:00 pm. Defining their performances as “Rock N’ Roll with Fiber”, the Kootz are known for theirfeel good” music. Derived from classic rock, pop, soul, and blues, audiences from everywhere love their variety of music and are sold by their humor and charm.

Morris County’s own Hanover Wind Symphony will perform on Tuesday, July 9th at 7:00 pm after a week’s hiatus for the Independence Day Holiday. The Hanover Wind Symphony is a unique extension of the great American tradition of community music performance and is an entirely volunteer non-profit organization with a mission to bring “Music to People and People to Music.”

The band is comprised of woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments exclusively and it is completing its 27th annual concert season. Come early this night because the symphony always draw a big crowd.

On Tuesday, July 16th will be featuring a return performance visit to our concert stage by RB Express.

Exemplifying the tight harmonies and rhythms of the early street corner groups of the 1950’s, this Jersey Shore band will musically bring us back to the Doo-Wop years of the 50’s and the classic harmonies of the 60’s.

On Tuesday, July 23rd we will host evening one of New Jersey’s great country-western bands performing contemporary and classic county hits. The New Jersey based Due South Band will visit the Ginty Gazebo stage for an evening of foot-stomping fun and sing those heartbreaking country ballads.

The Richard Reiter Swing Band will perform swing, jazz, and classic rock numbers when they take the stage on Tuesday, July 30th at the Ginty Field Gazebo. Reiter, a renowned local composer and musician, and his Swing Band will be making their third appearance at Ginty Field.

Richard Reiter is a nationally acclaimed jazz performer and composer whose music has also reached international audiences. Reiter performs ten woodwinds: saxophones (soprano, alto, tenor, baritone), flutes (C-flute, alto flute, bass flute), clarinets (Bb soprano, Bb bass clarinet), and piccolo. He improvises exciting solos that are emotional, adventuresome and thoughtfully structured.

Wrapping up the 2013 Concert Season will be Morris County’s eclectic “Party Band” Mid-Life Crisis, a Morris Township based band with a repertoire of classic rock and blues hits. Mid-Life Crisis will appear at Ginty Field on Tuesday, August 6th.

Free Summer Family Movie Nights in Morris Township

'Ghostbusters' comes to Ginty Field on Aug. 24, 2013

The Morris Township Department of Parks and Recreation will open its free Family Movie Night program with the showing of thepopular animated film Madagascar 3 – Europe’s Most Wanted, on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. The movie will be shown at Ginty Field, next to the Morris Township Municipal Complex on Woodland Avenue. Movie time is at dusk, approximately 8:30 pm. This movie is rate PG.

Bring the whole family, your blankets, lawn chairs, and snacks to enjoy this free Big Screen outdoor movies. Arrive early for some fun and games with our summer staff at 7:30 pm plus Summit Soundz will take your pre-show musical requests beginning at 7:30 pm.

In addition to the Madagascar 3, we will be showing the following movies this summer:

  • July 10th at Ginty Field Babe – The Gallant Pig (Animated – Rated PG)
  • July 24th at Ginty Field The Lion King (the Disney Classic – Animated – Rated PG)
  • August 24th at Ginty Field Ghostbusters (Live Action – Classic Ghost Tale! – Rated PG
  • August 24th is also the night of Morris Township’s Second Annual Family Campout with lots of fun and surprises in store.
