Art lovers perusing the Morristown Fine Arts and Crafts Fair outside the Vail Mansion on June 9, 2013, enjoyed an unusual serenade while they shopped.
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church across the street hosted a carillon concert featuring duets as well as solo performances by Janet Tebbel and Lisa Lonie. The Morristown concert was the first in a series of performances planned by the duo.
Tebbel is carillonneur of two carillons in the historic Germantown section of Philadelphia: First United Methodist Church and Miraculous Medal Shrine.
Lonie is carillonneur at Princeton University and at St. Thomas’ Church in Whitemarsh, Penn.
Performing on St. Peter’s 49-bell, 18-ton carillon, the two collaborated on serious works by composers such as Sergei Prokofiev and J.S. Bach and not-so-serious fare, including a Disney medley.

The youth group, meanwhile, created a little artwork of their own during the concert: Decorating team captain shirts for the Father’s Day Fun Walk/Run at Lewis Morris Park to raise funds for their upcoming mission trip.
