A couple of weeks ago we showed video of Morristown 8th-grader Aja Baitey whipping her song into shape for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Sounds like Aja’s ready for opening night.
Above is video of the same number, from Thursday’s dress rehearsal at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown.
Joseph–the Mayo’s first youth show produced in-house–runs on Friday, May 31, 2013, at 7:30 pm, on Saturday, June 1, at 2 pm and 7:30 pm, and on Sunday, June 2, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15.
“We are definitely ready for an audience. That’s the last little element that’s missing,” Director Cathy Roy said at the rehearsal. “We’ve had so much fun building to this moment. Too much fun, almost.”
Justin Anthony Long, a teacher in MPAC’s performing arts school, plays Joseph in this Biblical musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. More than 70 kids round out the cast. Morristown native Montana Byrne, the lead narrator, is 14.
Cathy’s production team includes musical director Darius Frowner and costumer director Roxie Zeek.
On Thursday we also bumped into Pharaoh, a.k.a. Joey Walsh of Parsippany. Joey asked us to relay a big shout-out to his parents. So, Mr. and Mrs. Walsh, this is from Joey:
“THANK YOU!!!”
