It’s too bad you can’t order a live performance of the Fab Four whenever you’re feeling blue.

The crackerjack Beatles tribute band had a big crowd dancing in the aisles at Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center on Friday.

Like the originals from Liverpool sang so long ago, they’ve been going in and out of style, but they’re guaranteed to raise a smile.

Which is exactly what Ron McNeil (John), Neil Candelora (Paul), Gavin Pring (George) and Erik Fidel (Ringo) did at the Mayo, with a little help from their friend George Trullinger, who was a hoot as Ed Sullivan.

After the real Ringo’s visit to Morristown last year, it was fun to savor his facsimile pounding away on songs that the Beatles never performed live. Strawberry Fields Forever and Here Comes the Sun were especially impressive, with an oomph that made you wonder what if…?

This was a revamped lineup from the Fab Four who rocked Morristown in 2011. Ron and Gavin–a native Liverpudlian–were back with new mates.  At 21, Neil is almost the right age for Paul McCartney, circa 1964 (even if he does bear a closer resemblance to a young Keith Richards.)

Paul famously sang the coda to the Beatles’ saga on Abbey Road: In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.

For the Fab Four, it might be something along the less-poetic lines of:

Make-believe is fun, really, if you don’t take it too seriously.
